Update 12/23/09: I've pretty much abandoned this theme (I switched to linux and it's far nicer to theme), but my brother wanted to get this running on Vista so I got it to work. I don't even remember how I was doing it before, but when he went to apply it he could only apply themes, not visual styles (I think that changed since when I was using it). To fix it: - Go to the folder C:/Windows/Resources/Themes/Aero/ - rename "aero.msstyles" to "aero_original.msstyles" (you may have to go through that taking ownership BS) - move Aero Enigma.msstyles into the Aero folder and rename it "aero.msstyles" - go into the theme change dialog and apply the standard aero theme. It should appear now.
All I've done is replace the standard aero with the customized one. This should work with any visual style, not just this one.
This is a very basic mod of the default Aero VS in Vista. The only thing I've done to it is alter the taskbar to fit in with Kaelri's Enigma rainmeter theme (found here: [link]). I haven't modded any of the windows, the start menu, or anything else.
I had originally meant to mod the rest of the theme to match better, but my trial copy of the software ran out before I got around to it.
You're welcome to "share, translate, remix, bend, modify, copy, trash, bash, move, publish, burn, hide, or remake" this theme in any way you see fit. If you're interested but don't know how, AeroXP [link] has some good tutorials and resources.
All I ask is that you post it on DeviantART and let me know in the comments so I and everyone else can make use of the improvements.

Unfortunately it's been over a year since I used Vista for more than an hour, so I'm going off distant memories. I switched to Ubuntu (Linux) and theming is so much easier.
I'll give it a try though. To help you I'm going to need to know a few things...
Did you try to patch uxtheme.dll and the other necessary files?
Was it successful or is that where you're gettings stuck?
Not quite sure what you mean... in the .zip file there is a readme and the .msstyles file.
I copied this directly out of the readme:
"Instructions:
To use this theme you first have to patch uxtheme.dll and a number of other files. I'm not sure if it will work with windows XP, but I kind of doubt it. It was made with Vista in mind.
